FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) –A Fitzgerald woman was arrested and charged with neglect after her disabled husband unexpectedly died.
EMS was called to the home of Robert and Cheri Tison after Cheri called 911 to say her husband was unresponsive. Officers say Tison was in very bad shape with multiple bed sores and a foul smell.
He was taken to Dorminany medical center but died that same night.
His body was sent to the GBI crime lab in Macon to determine whether or not the neglect led to his death.
Officers say Tison was disabled from a back surgery he had in 2007.
His wife Cheri was charged with neglect of a disabled person but additional charges are pending the outcome of the autopsy.
