ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A Marine assigned to Albany's Marine Base returned home from Afghanistan this afternoon.

Lance Corporal David Vancure from Mansfield, Ohio, got a warm greeting from the Base Maintenance Commander Colonel Terry Reid and fellow Marines.

Vancure spent six months at Camp Leatherneck in the Southern Province of Afghanistan doing logistics work.

"We were pretty much dealing with the blown up vehicles. Retrograding them back to the states to get repaired and hopefully get them back out there to get them back in the fight," said  Vancure.

Vancure said the first thing he wants to do now that he's back home is take a long shower.

Two more Albany Marines are scheduled to return home Monday.
