ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Albany Firefighters burned an East Albany home Thursday morning for training purposes.

The home in the 1400 block of Elva Street had been cleared by the courts and code enforcement to be destroyed.

First they set a couch inside on fire and put it out, to train firefighters on arson investigation.

Arson Investigator Sam Harris said  "That's what we are doing here, is we're trying to show radiant heat patterns. And to show how we set these things up, so we can train our personnel to better determine what caused the fire. "

Firefighters videotaped the arson investigation lessons, and will share them with other South Georgia firefighters.

Then they burned the house to the ground. Not only was the eyesore home removed, but firefighters got good training keeping the blazing home under control.
