ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Former Dougherty District Attorney Ken Hodges was back in Albany to encourage folks in his hometown to support his bid for Attorney General.

Hodges opened his Albany campaign headquarters on Dawson Road Thursday afternoon.

He told the crowd he's campaigning to put someone from southwest Georgia in Atlanta to fight for southwest Georgian's rights.

"The hundreds of victims that I've stood up for in court, the thousands of criminals that we've prosecuted and when we have someone with that kind of experience you need to get the word out, and let the voters know who they're voting for. My opponent has never once been in the courtroom, I've been in the courtroom nearly every day of my career."

Hodges' opponent in the Democratic Primary, Rob Teilhet, today accused him of negative campaigning.

Hodges says he's simply telling voters the truth about his record in the courtroom. Hodges also promised to hold B-P accountable if oil reaches Georgia's coast.
