VALDOSTA, GA - Sheriff C. Prine stated that on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 investigators from the Sheriff's Office went to 3361 Cedar Street, Valdosta in order to conduct follow up investigation pertaining to recent copper wire thefts.
While conducting interviews with the occupants of the home, the investigators discovered a number of marijuana plants being grown on the property.
The investigators immediately notified the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office who responded to the scene.
This combined effort led to the recovery of approximately forty four {44} marijuana plants in various stages of growth.
A thorough search of the residence was conducted which resulted in the recovery of the marijuana and a stolen .357 caliber handgun that had previously been reported as stolen.

All three of persons are from Valdosta. The investigation into the theft of copper wiring is on-going and additional charges are possible.
