ALBANY,  GA (WALB) –Donell patrols the streets for what some people call little vampires."I wouldn't call them vampires but they are bloodsuckers," said Control Manager Donnell Mathis.

And he enjoys every minute of it. "It's a pleasure," said Mathis. He's part of a team that controls the mosquito population.

"Mosquito's are a nuisance and carry a virus," said Mathis. Eddie Rouse spends a lot of time in his yard."Cutting Grass, edging or weed eating," said Rouse.

Also he said the pests come around the same time everyday. "They bother me the most around my house in the morning or late in the afternoon," said Rouse.

There are things you can do to protect yourself. "Take garlic pills, mosquito's can't stand Garlic," Cut back shrubs close to the house and dump all standing water. @

"It just hurts when they bite," said Rouse. Those bites can have serious effects.
