Lowndes County - Parts of a South Georgia military base will soon be under new command.
On October 1, the 347th Rescue Wing at Moody Air Force Base will change from Air Combat Command to Air Force Special Operations Command. Moody's 820th Security Forces and the 479th Flying Training groups will remain under Air Combat Command.
According to a Moody spokesperson, about 2,750 personnel will be indirectly affected with minor administrative changes. The change is meant to enhance base efficiency by centralizing command.
