ALBANY, GA (WALB) – You may not have known, but there is a day dedicated to bringing awareness to the hundreds of miles of nature trails across America.

This morning Albany Recreation and Parks Department celebrated National Trails Day along with the Flint RiverQuarium, and the Albany Audubon Society.

National Trails Day is held annually by the American Hiking Society as a way of bringing awareness of trails and their benefits.

Citizens were encouraged to walk at least a mile along the Riverfront Greenway Trail.
