Fresh Produce selling well

ALBANY, GA (WALB)  Now that locally grown produce is available in South Georgia, business at produce stands is picking up.

Kearce Produce on Palmyra Road in Albany has seen an increase in customers lately.

The owners say kids being out of school is one reason for the spike in business, but the real reason they are selling more fruits and vegetables, is farmers in Southwest Georgia have begun harvesting their crops.

Freya Kearce says "Everybody wants South Georgia watermelons, cantaloupe. The peaches came from Morgan, Georgia and it's just good, better."

Most of the produce the Kearce's sell comes from Dougherty and Tift Counties.
