ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Charges against a former Dougherty County teacher accused of hitting a student are now upgraded.

32-year-old Antonio Richardson is charged with felony cruelty to a child in the first degree, battery, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of an officer.

Prosecutors say March 17th at the Alternative School, Richardson hit a 14 year old female student while she was being arrested by a Dougherty County School Police Officer.

The Officer then arrested Richardson as well. Richardson resigned shortly after his arrest.
