ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The Dougherty District Attorney announced promotions to replace former Chief Assistant Chris Cohilas, who left to go into private practice.

Heather Lanier will be the new chief assistant D.A. in the Superior Court division.

Kimberly Westley will be the new chief assistant D.A. in the state court division, handling all the misdemeanor prosecutions.

And Matt Breedon is promoted to Deputy Chief Assistant in Superior Court, and will also continue to do gang task force prosecutions.

"They are all committed to making the best decisions and the best efforts to make our community safe.  And that's the most important thing we want to accomplish as the District Attorney's office," said Greg Edwards.

Edwards said he was glad he was able to promote prosecutors who have experience in his office.
