VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) – Investigators say an employee at Colonial Bag Company shot a co-worker in an argument over a woman.

The victim is hospitalized, and the shooter surrendered to Echols County authorities.

Police tape blocks off the area between two warehouses at Colonial Bag Company as Lowndes County authorities investigate. 24-year old Christopher Burke of Echols County gave himself up in his home county.

He was wanted by Lowndes County authorities for firing several shots that wounded 28-year-old Travor Richardson Tuesday morning around 4:30.

Megan Enfinger lives close to where this violent crime went down. "I was sitting in my house and my dog ran in the road to Colonial Bag and we had to go get it and I didn't know what happened and investigators told us."

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine says the shooting stemmed from an argument over a woman.

"Over a girl, that's crazy," said Timothy Wells. "That's just too crazy."

Wells works the day shift at Colonial Bag Company. "I was kind of nervous at first. I hope one doesn't happen again while I'm there."

Wells stopped in the Shell Station off Bellville Road.

"I was shocked. I can say if something happened it must be some outsider or something because local people are so nice," said the owner, Shital Joshi.

Richardson is in intensive care at South Georgia Medical Center. His grandfather told us doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
