Panthers ready for Heritage rematch

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Tiftarea Panthers have had to wait for several days to find out who they will play in the GISA AA state baseball championship series.

The waiting is over with Tiftarea learning they will once again play Heritage for the state title.

The only difference is this year's series will be played on Heritage's home field in Newnan.

The Panthers had to replace their starting infield and overcome a slow start but they believe they are once again playing their best baseball when it counts the most.

Pitcher Aaron Estes said. "I had a slow beginning of the season myself hitting and pitching. It took about halfway through the season before I really got into it. I am ready to go. I am ready for this."

Shortstop Sumner McWhorter said. "Just to get back to the state championship. You are not going to miss that feeling at all. This is a great experience. Especially to go to it twice."

Tiftarea will play Heritage in a doubleheader Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and if a third game is needed it scheduled for Monday in Newnan.
