ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Dougherty County teachers will likely be furloughed for ten days during the next fiscal year.
This morning, the finance committee approved to recommend a budget to the full School Board which will include 10 unpaid days for all classified personnel who work 180 days or more, that includes teachers.
Right now, the proposed days include cutting three instructional days, and using some pre-planning/post-planning and staff development days to accommodate the furloughs.
All employees who work 180 days or less will be furloughed for three days. The total savings by implementing furloughs would be approximately $4.2 Million.
