The Tiftarea Panthers captured their first ever state GISA state golf championship Monday afternoon by posting a team score of 303 at Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton. David Spain and Ric Ellis both fired 2-over par 74's for Tiftarea to lead the way. The next closest team to the Panthers was Brookwood at 326. Pinewood's Justin Cowart was the low medalist with a 1-over par 73.
In GISA AAA, The Deerfield-Windsor Knights bid for a second straight state title fell short Monday afternoon at Stonebridge Country Club in Albany. The Knights finished tied for third with John Milledge Academy at 312. Augusta Prep walked away with the state title after shooting a 293. Stratford Academy was second with a score of 300. Augusta Prep's Clayton Boardman was the low medalist with a 66.
