Dougherty Co. students in boot camp for CRCT

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  More than a thousand Dougherty County students are in CRCT Boot Camp this week getting some extra help to pass a retest.

Many students missed passing the test by just a question or two. Teachers are working with students in third, fifth, and eighth grades on reading and math skills so they can retake the test next week. During the boot camp, two teachers team up to provide a more intense learning environment.

"With smaller groups you can do more, your instruction can be more tailored to that child's learning needs so I wouldn't necessarily say different, but more intense and more personalized for the student," said Dr. John Davis III, DCSS Instructional Specialist.

Students will retake the test June third and fourth. The Dougherty County School System is providing busing for all students involved. Summer school also started today for high school students looking to recover credits.
