ALBANY, GA (WALB) -A bullet fragment struck a Dougherty County woman in the face when a police officer shot an aggressive dog.

Dougherty County Police Officer Nanda Ross responded to South County Line road a little after 7:00 Friday night after Martha Weston reported a stray dog near her home.

Police say the Doberman Pinscher Rottweiler mix was showing its teeth and acting aggressively. Ross shot the dog.

A bullet hit the gravel and a fragment struck Weston in the right side of her face and pierced her skin.

An EMS crew removed the fragment on the scene. Weston was not taken to the hospital. Police killed the dog.
