ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Two cornerstones of the Westover High basketball program are headed to two-year schools in Georgia.
Center Chris Wheeler signed with Middle Georgia College and guard Shevern Keaton is headed to Chattahoochee Tech.
Wheeler averaged 14 points and nine rebounds a game for the Patriots. Keaton scored 10 points and handed out five assists per game. The two played a big role in Westover making two straight trips to the final four and finishing state runner-up last year. Both players are signing with teams who won their conference championships this season.
Chris Wheeler said. "It just felt real good when I visited the campus. It was a real good program. It felt like a second family when I went and I just stayed for a short time."
Shevern Keaton said. "Get to play two years there and get better. Redshirt. Get stronger and hopefully go to the next level."
