PHOENIX, AZ (WALB) - Down 12 shots with only 36 holes to play, the Darton College golf team knew they had to get closer to the leader in the third round of the National Junior College Association Division IIgolf tournament.
South Mountain is in the lead at -3 after shooting a 286 and Mesa drops down to second with a 296.
Darton shoots an even par 288 and the Cavs are in striking distance just eight shots back heading into Friday's final round in what looks like will be a three team battle for the title. Roy Steinberg had a terrific 67 and is in line for All-American honors in fourth place for Darton. Darton also counted a 73 from Josh Cone and Taylor Wellborn and Jared Wagenaar both shot 74 and Trey McQuaig had a 79. Darton will tee off in the final round around 4:00 p.m. eastern in Phoenix on Friday. NJCAA DII Golf
