CHULA, GA (WALB) - The Tiftarea baseball team has made it back to the GISA AA state championship baseball series and gotten some revenge.
The Panthers swept Brentwood 1-0, 8-6 in the AA semifinals Thursday in Chula.
Aaron Estes won a pitcher's duel with Brentwood's Kevin McCrary in game one.
McCrary pitched two years ago at Deerfield-Windsor.
The lone run scored on a two-out single by Estes in the fourth inning.
Tiftarea jumped out to a 7-0 lead in game two and held on for the 8-6.
The defending state champion Panthers will play at the winner of the other series between Heritage/Edmund Burke in the state championship series next week.
In Class A, Crisp Academy rallies from a 7-2 deficit to beat Fullington 10-7 in game one.
Game two is at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Crisp Academy and if Fullington wins game two then game three will follow.
The other Class A semifinal series between Citizens Christian and Kings Ridge is Saturday in Alpharetta.
