VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -  Valdosta State with a chance to make their first ever trip to the Division II world series.

All the Lady Blazers need is to beat Arkansas Monticello in this weekend's Super Regional at the VSU softball complex.

The Lady Blazers were probably expecting to play rival Alabama-Huntsville but the Lady Boll Weevils from Monticello upset UAH in their regional finals on Monday.

Head coach Thomas Macera says Monticello has a strong pitcher and that will make defense a top priority in this best two out of three series.

Thomas Macera said. "We just need to play some good defense this weekend. Continue to pitch well. We pitched well last weekend. Just get some timely hits and again just play some really good defense."

Game one of the best of three series is at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Game two is 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and a third game if played will follow.
