THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –Southwest Georgia Technical College held their 10th annual Career and Resource fair Thursday in Thomasville.

The event was sponsored in part by the Georgia Department of Labor and was open to the general public. Representative from fifty-three hiring companies spoke to over three hundred job seekers.

Some of those job seekers even applied for positions on the spot.

"This is an excellent place to be," explains Clifton Mitchell, the Southwestern State Hospital's human resources director. "I was talking to another recruiter and she even commented on the caliber of the candidates that we're seeing as far as their professionalism and experience."

"I enjoyed it," said Jana Starling, a nursing student. "There was a lot more people than I thought there would be. A lot of companies and a lot that were hiring."

Organizers encourage anyone who missed the job fair to check out their local department of labor office for job openings in their area.
