VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Most high school football teams are wrapping up spring practice with summer practice starting in less than three months.

The Valdosta High Wildcats finished their spring under new head coach Rance Gillespie.

The former Peach County head coach and Georgia Southern assistant is very pleased with the effort and work the Cats gave over the last two weeks.

Gillespie says after the players got a feel for the way their new coaches practiced, they started to learn the new offensive and defensive schemes.

Rance Gillespie said. "Those things are just going to take some time. Trying to get them all installed. I feel like we got a lot accomplished over the spring."

Valdosta High opens the season on August 27th at home against Brooks County.
