ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Firefighters from across South Georgia are training in Albany.

The Georgia Search and Rescue team held it's re-certification course at the firefighter training center on Honeysuckle Drive.

Eighteen firefighters from southwest Georgia participated.

Four different high risk classes and this training prepares firefighters for life or death situations.

"This kind of training is very important so they'll be ready so they can be called out at any time,"  said Capt. Rubin Jordan of the Albany Fire Department.

The training exercises help year around but especially during the hurricane season. Firemen must be ready to respond to whatever type of condition.
