ALBANY, GA (WALB) –A gang expert tells Albany Police that they need the community help to stop street gang crime.

Detroit Police Lieutenant Harold Rochon, who works as a police consultant, has also worked with the FBI Gang Intelligence Unit.

Rochon said that Police have to attack gangs early, not watch and wait to see if trouble develops.

Detroit Police Lt. Harold Rochon said "How many cancer cells does it take for you to have cancer. If you don't address that one cancer cell, then it causes the cancer to grow. And that's what a big part of the issue has been."

Rochon said Police need teachers, judges, and the entire community to help them stop gang violence.
