ALBANY, GA (WALB) – In recognition for the selfless work they do, EMT's and paramedics are being honored this week for saving lives. As part of EMS week, emergency medical service workers are being treated to lunch.

Wednesday, Palmyra Medical Center provided a BBQ lunch for them. Crews gathered at the headquarters building for the lunch. The hospital says it's their small way of saying a big thanks.

Sharon Heard of Palmyra Medical Center said, "Because of the work they do and because they care about our community. They work very hard, around the clock, everyday of the week and EMS week is to celebrate them."

Curt Fallow said, "We're in public service, so sometimes we don't get a lot of recognition, but it's nice. I'm real appreciative and it makes me thankful for my job." Palmyra Medical Center is feeding EMS workers throughout the area all week.
