Trash pickup is more expensive

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The rate Dougherty County charges the city of Albany to dump household trash is going up.

That means the rate customers pay will increase too. The county is raising its per ton rate to the city by $4.25 a ton.

The city knew the increase was coming and plans to implement a rate increase to cover the additional cost.

City customers will pay $26.50 per month for garbage pickup beginning in July, versus the current rate of $25.87. That works out to $7.56 more per year.
