VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Firefighters were promoted during a ceremony in Valdosta Monday.

Nine firefighters from seven stations across the city were promoted to Lieutenant or sergeant. Their families pinned them as Chief J.D. Rice presided over the ceremony.

The Valdosta Fire Department has these kind of promotions ceremonies at least twice a year. To move up the ranks, firefighters have to be evaluated on the job and score well on tests.
