ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A rash of crimes this weekend kept Albany police busy.

The all took place between 11 Saturday night and five Sunday morning.

Shortly after 11:30 Saturday night APD was called to the 2000 block of East Oglethorpe, at LaFuente Restaurant, to an attempted armed robbery.

38-year-old Jacinto Escobar told them two suspects approached him in the parking lot and asked for a cigarette.

One of the men, armed with a handgun, then demanded money.

Escobar said when he attempted to turn and run away, he was struck in the head with an unknown object. The suspects then fled the scene on foot empty handed.

Shortly before 4 Sunday morning in the 1800 block of Massey drive 29-year-old Jeffrey Shulez and 29-year-old Lavetta Turner said they were walking past Dougherty Middle School on their way home when they were approached by a male suspect armed with a handgun.

The man demanded money but only got away with victims' cell phones.

Around 4:30 Saturday morning in the 300 block of South Davis 19-year-old Johnny Lee Wilson said while he was walking home, he was approached by three male suspects.

The men demanded money; one of them struck the victim across the head with an unknown object.

When he was hit Wilson fled the scene, the men didn't get anything. The victim was not able to give police a good description of the three men.
