JEFFERSON, GA (WALB) - Last week Octavia Jones led the Monroe girls track team to a state championship for the 2nd year in a row. Before he takes over the Westover football program, Jones was hoping to end his run at Monroe by making it back to back championships for the boys as well.
The Tornadoes would come up a little short in the quest for a 2nd straight state championship finishing in 2nd place 15 points behind Carrollton.
Monroe finished first in the 1600 meter relay and Sir Paul Jones finished first in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
