VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A thousand new cystic fibrosis cases are diagnosed each year.

That's why a motorcycle group and several companies in Valdosta have come together to raise money for the cause.

The outback riders were inspired to help when they met 10-year old Katie Courson who has the disease.

For the past six years, Tamela Myers has organized Ride to Live to raise money to help find a cure.

"Ninety cents of every dollar raised goes for research and there are drugs in the pipeline now and with dollars for research, one of those drugs could be the cure," said Event Organizer Tamela Myers.

Registration for the poker run begins at 9:30 a.m. at Charley O'Corley's Saturday.

You can call Myers at (229) 561-0317.
