ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany's Marine Base is reaching out to employees and retirees to let them know about services available to them.

Friday, the base held a family fun fitness festival and retiree appreciation day. In addition to nutrition and fitness information, retirees were treated to a special meal and given information about benefits they can take advantage of.

April Green said, "With the summer starting, we're all waiting to get fit and we're also appreciating the retired military, so it's just a paired two and one to get higher participation in the community."

Richard Barnes said, "Individuals who have served their country, this is one of the things that we do, that is the heart of what we do at the department of Veterans Affairs, is try to disseminate information. These kind of forums allow us to get new changes out to the ears of Veterans who have been with the System for sometime."

Representatives from Veterans Administration and the V-A clinic attended Friday to provide information to retirees.
