Albany -- The Commandant of the Marine Corps has wrapped up three days of top level staff meetings at the Albany Base.

General Michael Hagge and 15 of the three and four star generals in the Marine Corps held their annual Executive Off Site Conference in Albany.

Second District Congressman Sanford Bishop said in his meeting with Hagge, that the Commandant had high praise for the Albany's bases support of the war in Iraq."98 and 99 performance, effectiveness. You can't get much better than that, in terms of the civilian and military personnel who are out there performing for our soldiers in the Middle East."

While here, the group also talked about the 2005 round of base closures. Federal officials have declared 25 percent of all military bases need to be closed for budget reasons.
