THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The Thomasville High boys team has a chance to make history when they play Wesleyan for the Class AA/A state championship match Friday night in Atlanta.

In just two seasons, Thomasville head coach Ernest Bass has led his team to the state semifinals last year and it what is believed to be the first championship game appearance for any south georgia team ever.

The Bulldogs have been road warriors.

Coach Bass says his team will have logged two thousand miles in their final four playoff games.

The senior dominated team knows they are not only playing for themselves in Atlanta.

They are the first team, boys or girls, from south Georgia to make a GHSA soccer championship game.

Marco Mata said. "People always trash talk south Georgia soccer. Always making excuses on why we win. There have been plenty of teams from south Georgia. I just hope can go up and prov that again tomorrow night."

Ernet Bass said. "These boys have been playing together for at least ten years. They want to, they want to show the state that south Georgia has great soccer as well as football."

The state championship match starts at 8:00 p.m. at Wesleyan.
