Pelham off to quick start at GHSA boys track

JEFFERSON, GA (WALB) -  The Monroe boys track team is off to a good start at the Georgia High School Association state meet in Jefferson.

Johnny Moore places 2nd in the discus and Sir Paul Jones is 5th in the high jump.

The Tornadoes with 12 points on day one and are in 8th place in the AAA team standings.

Lee County's Caleb Ebbets wins AAAA pole vault clearing 15'6".

Bainbridge's Denzel Gamble is second in the triple jump in AAAA.

Lowndes' Kenneth Durden wins the AAAAA triple jump.

In Class A, Pelham's Dominique Brown wins the Class A long jump and the triple jump. Teammate Kenneth Randall was second in the long jump and Desmond Smith was second in the shot and fourth in discus.

The Hornets have a big lead after the field events in Class A with 48 points.

Also in Class A, Irwin County's Travis Tucker wins the high jump at 6'6".
