MACON COUNTY, GA (WALB) – Thursday, the GBI identified a murder victim found nearly a week ago as 21-year old Michael Edwin Haegele. His body was found Friday next to State Road 128 near the Macon - Taylor County line.
A friend of his called investigators Wednesday after seeing media reports asking for the public's help identifying the body. Crime lab scientists then confirmed Haegele's identity. He lived in Mauk in Taylor County and had no immediate family.
Investigators won't say how Haegele was killed because they say that's something only the killer knows and they don't want to hurt their investigation.
