ALBANY, GA (WALB) –First responders from Dougherty and Lee Counties held a fierce but delicious competition among themselves.

The annual Law Enforcement Memorial Cook off was held at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge.

Ten teams of first responders showed off their bar-b-queing skills.

They were judged on chicken, ribs, wings, and boston butt.

One of the lucky judges was WALB's Christian Jennings.

For the cops, firefighters, and paramedics, it was a lot of fun. But they take it serious and are out to win.

Albany Police Captain Ryan Ward said  "We have a lot out here. It's a lot of camaraderie, lots of good friends and fellowship. Just a day for us to get away and enjoy each others company."

The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office won the chicken competition.

The Albany Police Department took the top prize for wings.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office had the best ribs.

And the boston butt top prize went to the East Albany unit of APD.

The overall champion was the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
