ALBANY, GA (WALB) –A Robert Cross Middle School 8th grader is presented the "Young Citizenship Award" on her 14th birthday.

Allyn Jones was honored by the Southwest Georgia Exchange Club this afternoon.

The award goes to the Robert Cross student who shows the best citizenship, attitude, academics, service, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Jones is the President of the School Beta Club, sings in the chorus, and loves to read.

Jones said "I did not know anybody was nominating me for an award, but I guess it's a good thing."

Principal Dr. Sam Pringle said "Anything we can do to let them know the value of education, and to encourage them to do the best they can, and to continue to do that, is worth it's weight in gold."

Jones received a certificate, a personalized dictionary, and one hundred dollars.
