City compensates military pay

April 23, 2003

Albany - The city is making sure its employees, now on active duty, can make ends meet financially.

Tuesday night, city commissioners agreed to compensate city employees if their military pay is less than their city salary. "This is the very least we can do to make sure our men and women serving the country can support their families," said Mayor Tommy Coleman.

Currently, four city workers have been deployed and forced to leave their city jobs.
