TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tifton native Nanci Bowen has a big golf swing and a big heart.
The former LPGA star was back in her home town Monday for the 11th annual Nanci Bowen Charity Event. Golfers joined together to raise money for patients at the Hospice of Tiftarea and Oncology services at Tift Regional Medical Center.
The event has raised over $350,000 dollars since it's inception 11 years ago.
"Well it started when my uncle passed away in 1994 and I was approached about doing something for Hospice because hospice was there for him at the end of his life so I thought this would be a great opportunity to do something and give back to the community" said Bowen.
In 1995 Bowen won the Nabisco Dinah Shore, one of the LPGA's major championships.
