ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Lee County lefthander Matthew Suggs has been the sparkplug to the Trojan attack and has been one of their top pitchers.
The outfielder-pitcher is staying close to home next year in college.
Matthew Suggs signed a scholarship Monday morning to play at Georgia Southwestern. Suggs has a .424 batting average in the role of leadoff hitter at Lee County. He is a 15-3 record on the pitching mound with 123 strikeouts in 121 career innings. Matthew Suggs excited about joining the rapidly improving Hurricane baseball program that finished second in the first ever Peach Belt tournament this weekend.
Matthew Suggs said. "It is what you always dreamed for. It means a lot. "
Lee County plays at Lakeside-Evans Wednesday in the second round of the GHSA AAAA baseball playoffs.
