ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Residents at Palmyra Nursing Home got to enjoy a Hawaiian Luau without the long trip to Hawaii.

As part of National Nursing Home week organizers at Palmyra put on a luau to kick off the hot summer months.

Employees dressed in Hawaiian skirts and danced to tropical music with some of the residents.

They even got to enjoy ten different types of homemade ice cream including fruit cocktail, banana, and peach.

"I love it here honey and we have lots of fun and I love all the people and id like to help people and if I can help anyone I will and we just have a lot of fun here," said Doris Baker, President of Resident Council.

Employees say they constantly work to bring fun activities to the residents who can't get out much.

The two most popular are Bingo and Gospel Sings.
