ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Monroe High's Mimieux Land knew she would have a challenging day in the field events at the GHSA Girls Track meet on Friday.
Land was qualified for the triple jump, long jump and high jump and the schedule had all three events taking place within a three hour time span.
Land made quick work of the triple jump with a state record 40' 1/4" leap in her second and final attempt of the meet to get her first state title.
Land hustled to the high jump pit where she was the first to clear 5'6" and win a second straight title in the event for the sophomore.
No time to celebrate because when the event ended Land was on deck at the long jump pit.
Without even a run through, Land turned in a winning jump of 18'11" to win by two inches and give her a third state title on Friday.
Mimieux Land said. "I am actually a jumper. So, it is easier for me. I am able to do maybe more than one jump at a time."
Monroe also got five points from Alexandria Childs who finished 5th in the discus. Westover's Clennysha Jones finished third in the high jump.
The Lady Tornadoes are in second place 11 points behind St. Pius.
