Albany - City commission meetings are pulled off the air. Tuesday night, commissioners voted to stop airing the meetings on the cable access channel despite strong opposition from Commissioners Arthur Williams, David Williams, and Bo Dorough.

Fellow commissioners accused Arthur Williams of not focusing on city business and of using the television to voice his views against war and the President.

"America is trying to spread democracy around the world, but we don't practice democracy here in Albany. That concerns me," said Arthur Williams.

"If we take the meeting off the air because we don't agree with what someone says, we are being undemocratic," said Bo Dorough.

Mayor Pro-Tem Henry Mathis say constituents can still access local government by contacting their commissioners or coming to the open meetings.
