Americus-- "Wiregrass Country" is the focus of a new exhibit.

"Wiregrass Country" is a nickname given to a stretch of land from Alabama through South Georgia. Georgia Southwestern University is paying homage to "Wiregrass Country" with an exhibit featuring pictures and stories from rural Southwest Georgia. GSW Freshman Kevin Robinson says, "I enjoyed this because I grew up in a rural community and this applied to me a lot."

To mark the opening, the Freedom Singers will perform Thursday night in the Fine Arts Theatre at seven. The exhibit is open until May 9th on the second floor of the Carter Library on campus.
