LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - The state playoffs start this week for the Georgia High School Association and the Georgia Independent School Association.
The Lee County Trojans will host Jonesboro in the first round of the AAAA state playoffs.
Lee County earned the second seed from region 1-AAAA after sweeping Upson-Lee in the region playoffs last week. The season got off to a slow start for Rob Williams team but they have finished with 11 wins in their last 14 games. The coach is hoping the hot play continues in the state playoffs.
Rob Williams said. "We had a couple of injuries early. We had to have some guys step up earlier than we would have liked. However, that has been good for us because they have got a lot of experience under their belt now."
The series starts with a doubleheader Friday at 5:00 p.m. in Leesburg and the third game if played is at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
