APD reports Stabbing on 10th Avenue

By David Miller

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  APD spokesman Steve Butler reports that a domestic incident about 9:00 this morning resulted in injuries to 21-year-old Dontavious Hicks.

Butler says that Hicks, 21, and his girlfriend, 28 year-old Futima Rivers, got into an argument in the 600 block of 10th Avenue, and that Rivers stabbed Hicks in the middle of his back.

Police think the stabbing was in self-defense. Hicks ran away, and was later found in the vicinity of Seventh & Monroe Street.

He was transported to Phoebe Hospital where he is currently undergoing medical treatment for the stab wound.

Pending the outcome of the medical assessment, Hicks will be released under police custody, since he has numerous previous outstanding warrants.

No charges have been filed against Rivers, and the investigation is still ongoing.
