Eagles adjusting quickly to option offense

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia Southern fans are happy the option is back in Statesboro.

Albany Eagle fans turning tonight to hear about the new look Eagles from assistant coach Brett Gilliland.

Gilliland was a grad assistant at Georgia Tech and was hired by new Eagles head coach Jeff Monken to coach running backs for the Eagles.

Monken was an assistant to coach Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech and he and his staff have been very busy teaching the unique option offense to the Georgia Southern players who have been running the spread passing attack.

Brett Gilliland said. "They have done a great job of giving effort and learning what we have taught them to do. Changing up their ways. It is a lot like talking Greek sometimes at first. We were successful at doing it at Tech and we had great players there. We have got the same at Georgia Southern."


Georgia Southern unveiled their 2011 schedule Tuesday  and it ends with a trip to Alabama in late November of 2011.


The Eagles open the 2010 season at home September 10th against Savannah State.
