Sylvester, GA (WALB) –- A truck driver hauling a load of pipes for Buddy Moore Trucking Company of Birmingham, Alabama swerved to avoid a hydroplaning car, and had to be rescued from Warrior Creek, between Sylvester and Poulan this morning.

Authorities say a Mercury Sable with a Worth County tag was being driven west on Highway 82, when it hydroplaned, and veered into the oncoming lanes.

The car collided with the semi as the trucker apparently swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision.

The truck rolled over, and the tractor fell into the creek, filled with water from at least four inches of rain that fell in Sylvester.

The driver was trapped in the cab, and had to be rescued by Worth County emergency responders. He was taken to an Albany hospital.

The woman driving the Sable was taken to Phoebe Putney Hospital. The extent of injuries was not immediately available, but they were not thought to be life-threatening.

Traffic is slowed in this area, as crews attempt to get the big truck out of the creek.
