Census workers take to the streets

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Thousands of Georgia workers started hitting the streets Saturday looking to count people who did not return Census forms.

They'll try up to six times to contact people- three times at the home and three times by phone.

"We want people to open their door to the census takers because it's very important," said Census Bureau Partnership Specialist, Jennifer Edwards. "They are people from the community who are trying to get an accurate and complete count and that helps benefit that neighborhood, so we want them to open their doors to census takers."

People can recognize census workers in their neighborhood by the census bag and certified badge they'll have on them. Census takers plan to finish the count in early July.
